Sharpening Pastes
The Best Sharpening Pastes for your Razors
These sharpening pastes will give you the best results. I am using them myself and especially the diamond pastes do really ease my workflow and are worth every Cent.
Diamond Sharpening Pastes - Polish like the Pros
These sharpening pastes are from France and they are made for (and in collaboration with) us by an Expert for diamond sharpening tools. They are probably the best diamond pastes you can get.
Because of the right content of diamond particles of same size these pastes are very fast and effective yet gentle.
The pastes are liquid and based on water. Therefore you can spread them easily on fine wood or leather and you need only very small amounts.
Because they are water based they do not contain any harmful substances.
Another big advantage over oil or fat based pastes is that there will be no residues left on the razor after stropping. And even if you put too much paste on the leather and there will be some, you can easily rinse them off with water. So there will be nothing left which could irritate your skin.
These diamond pastes are easy to use and you will not have the sticky and dragging feeling while stropping like you have with fat based pastes.
Shake well before every use.
Apply a dozen or more drops to the surface by pusing on the back of the tube. There is a "pumping mechanism" which will give you one drop for every push.
Spread the drops evenly and very thinly over the surface with your fingertip and let it dry before use.
If the performance of the paste weakens, just apply some drops again.
I "impregnate" the leather with the paste over the time. After that there is hardly any need to re-apply the paste again.
The paste works best when the leather darkens by the metal particles which are polished off. So it takes some stroppings before the real "kick" sets in. If your leather does not take in the paste very well and you have some paste left on the razor, just wipe it off before you proceed to another leather.
These pastes are extremely potent and they stay this way for a very long time.
The 1 and 0.25 my grits are for regular use. Every time you have the feeling the sharpness of your razor drops, you can use them. Just a few strokes are sufficient here!
The 6 and 3 my grits can be used after honing or when you bought a new razor (not when you bought one from Rasurpur!!), followed by 1 und 0.25 my.
When it is time to hone your razors again, try these pastes first, starting with 6my.
This way you can prolong your shaving period for months.

You can use these pastes on every paddle strop. They work really great on our 4-sided paddle block.

Important:
Do use these paste on a paddle strop only! Do NOT use a hanging strop because it is very easy to round off the edge of your razor and make it dull. The Following Pastes Are Available:

NEW Formula - Fine Chromium-Oxide Paste
This fine chromium-oxide paste is made by the same manufacturer as the Diamond Paste set.
Chromium-oxide is very hard and therefore suitable for polishing steel. It works a bit different than diamond though.
Diamond particles are very sharp, pointy and go deep into the metal. Chromium-oxide is more "roundish” and stays a bit more on the surface of the metal.
Therefore Chromium-oxide humanises an edge and makes it smoother. If you have the feeling that a razor feels a bit too harsh or crisp on your skin, try this paste.
So this paste is not a "real" sharpening paste per se but it is for the final finish to smoothen the edge.
This paste is oil based but has now a thicker, less messy formula. Do not use much of this paste (a toothpick full is enough!) and spread it as evenly as possible onto the leather. (If there is too much, just take a paper tissue and wipe it off.) Let it dry over night.
Treat your paddle strop in this way you can use it for a long time without the need of re-applying any paste.
So this jar will probably last a lifetime.
In our opinion the green paste is ideal for tools and knives and the red paste (see below) is ideal for straight razors but a lot of our customers are using the green one for straight razors and are very happy with it.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
This paste builds a natural polymer skin at the surface which protects the paste from oxidation. Just peel this skin a bit aside, take out some paste and put it back on the paste.DO NOT stir up the whole jar.
Use this paste after a 0.5 or 0.25 my diamond or any other paste.
A few strokes per side of the razor are enough!
Use this paste on a paddle strop only! Do not use a hanging strop because it is very easy to round the edge of your razor and make it dull.

Abura Tsubo - Japanese Oil Applicator - EMPTY
You don't want to put oil on a piece of cloth every time you want to oil your knives and razors or tools? Here is the solution.
Open the bottle in the middle and pour a very small amount of oil (f.i. Ballistol) onto the cotton. Then close it again and after some short time you can apply the oil with the wide wick at the top under the red cap.
The quite stiff wick will soften with use and time.
No dripping, no smelling (and in case you want to use Ballistol but you do not like the smell of it this is a great solution).
Made in Japan.
